you'd think that because of the title, this post will be recapping an outing that happened in july 2026. wrong. this was july 2025. i put this off for far too long that at this point i don't even know if i should write about this now that it's been well over a year. well! enjoy the pictures anyway!  this outing was pretty impromptu i must say. it'd been years since i visited museum macan. in fact, i think i wrote about that time too so it should be somewhere on this blog. i don't think much has changed since then, apart from the seasonal exhibitions which admittedly i came for this time around.
   the exhibition was called "the sea is barely wrinkled" by a japanese artist based in bandung. i found out then that jakarta was called sunda kelapa, then batavia. i had never been remotely good at history or geography so uhhh that's probably why. twas embarrassing, really. but anywho, the installation itself was pretty! i especially liked how they covered the ceiling with blue fabric? tissue paper? to make it seem like we're underwater.
      other than the japanese exhibition there was also yayoi kusama's (rip) infinity mirrored room which was also there last time i went so that was nothing new. still went and took pictures again though. apart from that, the rest of the museum was pretty much the same as far as i remember. i've always loved going to the museum, there's something about appreciating artworks that makes you really think about how different people must lead life for them to be able to create something so unordinarily amazing, things that you don't even think of creating. after this outing i headed straight to a badminton session with a couple of workmates which was fun! then again, badminton in general is pretty fun for me. didn't go for very long as i was late like an hour nonetheless we got to spend time a bit more after that. all in all a pretty wholesome day with friends. over a year ago. i do apologise. a lot has since happened (obviously) and i have a feeling i'd have more time to reorganise my photos and pen down the shit that has happened more recently so maaaybe i'll get to do those before the year ends. as for work, i feel like i'm heading into a storm which i can see from where i'm standing now so i guess i'll be fucked when it hits. but until then. hope life is being kind to whoever is reading this.  
Labels: friends, out, personal howdy! van gogh alive finally came to jakarta! bf and i had reserved tickets since june, basically ever since they first started selling the tickets. we originally planned to go sometime around july but as we got closer to the date we realised it may still be crowded so we postponed the scheduled time to around august. sure enough when we went, there weren't a lot of people since we went on a weekday and it had been a more than a month since the exhibition opened so there weren't a lot of people who went simply because they had FOMO. without further ado, have some pics from that day!  .gif) van gogh will always be one of those artists that i will always have respect and admiration for. his life journey was so sad that if i think about it too much i might end up crying lol. he had such a beautiful relationship with his brother. i remember studying about him back in sydney, art in general has always been so fascinating to me. plus i saw how they did this exhibition in sydney so i've been wishing for it to come to indonesia too and it finally did and thankfully right when i still lived in jakarta. .gif)    .gif) .gif)   if i had to say though i wasn't really satisfied with how they did the exhibition. don't get me wrong, the story telling through his paintings were beautifully interpreted. it's probably that they had this set up inside a shopping centre that they didn't have much space to go all out (like they did in other countries) so had the projectors and screens filled up a whole wall or something it would've been more enjoyable, plus photos in general would look better. nevertheless i'm still glad i got to enjoy the exhibition and honour his works.  life has been pleasant lately! nothing much happened after the last time i updated this blog. work has been super repetitive which is why i've started looking for freelance positions but havent gotten any. everything has been so monotone that in fact i'm writing this post during work. they're very lucky to have me as an employee. also i've been spending a lot of time w bf lately that i'm worried what it's gonna be like for me when he goes home next month lol rip  sister is giving birth very very soon. i feel like batman right now just waiting for a batsignal from her before i can make my move and go home LOL. i hope she has a safe delivery. i'm gonna be an aunt soon! it's still somewhat unfathomable tbh bc i am terrible w kids especially babies. my cousin also gave birth a few weeks back and i paid her a visit and like. i kid you not. i just sat on the corner of the bed watching her baby from a distance. i couldn't dare go any nearer even though the baby was just sleeping. how tf am i gonna be an actual blood-related aunt to a niece when i can't even interact as a proper human with a goddamn baby??? good luck to all of us i guess. i'm sure sis will become a great mother though. come to think of it, is this the first post in a long while that i didn't include some sort of food pic? LOL じゃまたー
been a while!
here i am with a long overdue post about that time i went to an amusement park with my group of uni friends! leggo.
the amusement park was located out of town so we departed at around 10am and got to our hotel at around 12-1pm. we initially already booked a place but for some reason it wasn't up to our standards so for like a good half hour we just wandered around looking for hotels nearby the place we booked. luckily enough there was a super decent hotel right across the road! so we all got in our room and just lazed around until it was time to go out.
we headed out at around 4-5pm and got dinner by the train station and got uber to the amusement park shortly after our stomachs were full. but the traffic wow goddamn it took us 2 hours to get there when it could've taken us half an hour LOL. nonetheless we got there anyway, bought tickets and headed in!
 
we rode on this ferris wheel and can i just say that that time was my first time in f o r e v e r riding a ferris wheel?! it was huge so it took us pretty high.
  
i took this opportunity to also ride my first ever roller coaster HAHAHA. i haven't been to an amusement park in sooo long so the last time i did i was still smol and scared of going on them. but i did it! it was thrilling and i was laughing for a good 5 minutes after the ride LOL.
   after we went on all the possible and interesting rides, we headed into an area where you can just take pictures. there were paintings on the walls, statues, perspective-3D photo spots etc.   
i took this chance to bring my polaroid so we took a few shots! unfortunately i hadn't learnt about the basic operations of a polaroid (instax) so the shots turned out quite dark. i legit learned everything right after we left from the park. how depressing.
we got another uber back to our hotel but wandered around to eat dinner (v v v late dinner as it was like midnight). we got back to our hotel at around 1am and all fell asleep by 2am. twas a good day.
