sidang skripsi! i finally finished my thesis and passed. thought it was neat that everything was online which meant my lecturers didn't have to see me NOT stand still and fidget all the goddamn time

arashi's last sprint before their hiatus. they started being more active online, released all their discography on streaming services, opened youtube, instagram, twitter, tiktok, facebook, even weibo, and released a damn documentary on netflix. i attended their concert for the first time ~~(legally, cough)~~ because it was online. i paid good money for them and in return they performed amazingly. さすが嵐。最高だった。in addition to attending their concert, i also bought their merch with my own money for the first time! i've tasted their merch and i've been scouring the internet for more ever since. i can't stop. i invite you to take a look at one of their penlights. it's the definition of beauty. anyway, waiting for the day i get to see them as 5 again, hopefully in real life ♡

2021

well what do you know, we got cats! the brown rude one is nino ~~a very fitting name for such a character~~, the grey elegant one is chia. they are both v lazy cats.

after taking a gap year ~~but not really bc i was just unemployed for a year~~ i landed a job as a graphic designer in a fairly huge startup. everything was done online remotely so i didn't need to move out. but a month ago all the designers got together and met up for the first time, after having worked via gmeet/zoom for half a year. they're all v great people with different life experiences i can learn heaps from. here's one of those "from this to this" photos lmao

my birthday came along and carmen gifted me a film camera! the amount of time it took me to hop online and buy films was unquestionable (very fast). shots from the first developed roll are already posted in a separate post + i might post more from a different roll i've most recently developed!

after passing in 2020 i finally attended graduation LOL. you'd think after purposely waiting for a year, i'd have a proper offline graduation but alas that was not the case. no matter, i got to go to my uni and invited a few friends out to take commemorative photos. some of my other friends couldn't make it and i was pretty bummed out though. i hated how maybe i wasn't enough of a good friend for them to drop everything and come through for me for one day. anyway. more photos will be up as a separate post!

shortly after grad, my sister got married to her other half. ceremony was fun, a lot of our friends and relatives came through though not as much as it would've been had it not been for the damn corona and all its variants. like my grad, i invited the very few friends i had but i can't have nice things ever so they did not come through. honestly i was disappointed ~~but not surprised~~ but i couldn't really blame them either. i was up against corona. but hey, i now have a brother~~-in-law~~.

dragged my sister to watch arashi on the big screen because for some unknown miracle (it's matsumoto jun) their concert film was shown in asia and most importantly my town. that's all i will say because anymore will trigger the sappy side of me and we certainly don't need that here

big part of 2021 were the cafes i visited (following safety protocols, d'uh). there's something about going to a cafe alone or with company, silently on your laptop, minding your own business while ignoring everyone else. all so very relaxing.

last, a lil appreciation post for the family and friends i've met during this v trying time. ~~you can tell i don't have a lot of friends most of these are of the same people lmao~~

when i look back, a lot more things happened to me in 2021, maybe because covid had just hit the entire world in 2020 and we were all still struggling so much to cope with everything suddenly changing and disappearing. if i'm gonna be real with you, most of 2020 was just heartbreak for me. heartbreak over the world, love life, job-seeking skills, loss of friends, etc. i'm sure i wasn't the only one feeling that way so i think we can all just agree that 2020 especially was just a shitty year. 2021 was no better but after a year of the pandemic i guess we gradually just learnt how to deal with it even just a tiny bit better.
