 having been in jakarta for a few years, i've bound to visit a few cafes here and there. so without further ado, here is a list of cafes i've visited in jakarta (and around!) 📍 lola coffee, kebon jeruk this cafe is pretty cozy for a night visit! the lighting is a bit dim which somehow is sort of perfect for this kind of cafe. the food isn't too bad and the drinks are relatively cheaper than most coffee places.  📍 kopikalyan, bsd food and ambience were great! the drink bf ordered (forgot what it was called, had a bit of ginger and i think cinnamon in it) received high praises from bf. the ac was a bit on the colder side though LOL i was freezing.  📍 kissaten nana, bsd neat lil place which had a CAT!!! y'all know how i feel about cats. it was pretty full when i visited but surprisingly everybody was in their best behaviour? the absence of noise almost makes you feel like you're in the library.   📍 locals coffee, ciater came here on bf's recommendation because this coffee place also sells perfume and he thought i'd like the scents. he was right. i ended up buying perfume in this place and got a free t-shirt LOL.   📍 sugar bloom atelier, bsd randomly drove by this place and did a u-turn based on the facade alone. honestly did not disappoint for a bakery! the cakes we ordered were all very tasty, worth the price (a little bit). the coffee i ordered was more on the bitter side though i couldn't finish it   📍 coffee dia, tanjung duren passed by this place countless times and only visited it the other day. they have an outdoor part you can have a picnic in apparently, and you can even rent the props and everything from them.  📍 jw mariott i mean. it's a hotel. food was excellent.   📍 fore coffee, qbig nothing too special about fore but i just like cafes where you can sit down, plug in your laptop and be disconnected from the world while being outside.  📍 monolog, kebayoran baru stopped by here looking for a place to wfc, not expecting it to be more pricey than what i would usually spend for drinks LOL. in hindsight though, it was normal for a place that was in kebayoran baru. i guess.  📍 kopitagram, ragunan came here to meet up w friends from my old workplace. super wide, lots of seats, great service, yummy dishes. would honestly come here again!  📍 territory-32, lebak bulus this was one of those places i would never have visited had i not gone with someone else. it wasn't bad or anything like that though, the portion of the food was huge!  📍 gotham treats, kebayoran baru came to get gelato, left also with cookies. they were all delicious. the place is conjoined with a bigger restaurant that also has yummy food.  📍 libero, grogol i have such a love-hate relationship with this cafe because when i came alone everything was perfect but when i came with company, twice, they somehow messed up the order both times? something isn't right with the way they put the orders in the system. hmmm.  📍 bagikopi, lebak bulus my bf and i's go-to cafe when we want to chill and be on our respective laptops! i even have a member for it lol. that's all.   it's the new years! i'm still drafting up a post recapping the last two years of my life so i probably won't say much in this entry. it's 13 days into 2025 and so far it's been..... suboptimal? not sure. hope i get the inspiration and motivation to finish writing up the upcoming post LOL. well bye!      Labels: food we're well into 2023 and i'm only writing about what happened last year now. great. 2022 has been... something. thing is, i don't even remember half of the things that happened last year which kinda just proved that my life was that boring. it wasn't a bad year or a good year overall. it was.. meh. that's it. cit's wedding   a close friend from uni days got married and it was the first wedding i was invited to (personally) in my 24 years of being alive. i had no one i could take so my sister merrily tagged along. thankfully some friends from uni also showed up so i had people to talk to during the actual wedding LOL. we did arrive late but the bride and groom were still up on the stage so we all got up to see her, take photos and stuff. for some of us, it had been since The Vid that we last saw each other so we kinda just sat in a small circle just chatting afterwards. it was a... satisfying day. in general. in some ways. hee hee. a couple days after the wedding i met up with two friends of mine who were in the same class during our first semester of uni and that was fun! that's all. it was just a very wholesome catch up between friends. bali, again    i took the trip because amy went to bali again! this trip became a milestone for me because it was the first (long distance) trip i went to without my parents and i went with a friend (and my sister but she was just more of a chaperone in place of my parents). i'm still somewhat surprised i pulled it off, talking about it to my parents, proposing the idea, coming up with an actual itinerary, booking plane tickets, hotels, renting motorbikes, all by ourselves. i kinda got the bug for it now, hey solo travelling is fun!  on the day we met amy we rented two motorbikes to head to ubud which was a 2h ride, we met up at a cozy lil part of ubud that was full of small cafes and restaurants. i dropped my friend off at her friend's house, sister saw me off with amy, she went off to a nearby cafe to do some work (or something, i don't remember). amy and i went to a small cafe and caught up with each others' lives and problems. i remember that i made the mistake of ordering a specific type of coffee which turned out too bitter for me but i tried with all that was left in me to finish the coffee to save face LOL. never ordering that again. by lunch we were walking around trying to find a place to eat in and we ended up finding a lil thai restaurant which worked out great for the both of us because amy is vegan and i don't eat pork nor drink alcohol. afterwards we headed to the cafe my sister was at because it happened to be closer to amy's hotel and my friend ended up meeting us at that cafe too.  it was so so so great to meet amy again, to talk with her about everything i haven't been able to tell her and to hear her endless stories about her life too. it reminded me of how different our lives are because even when we're the same age we're at different stages in life which isn't a bad thing! it just kinda put a perspective on other things, it mostly reminded me that the societal norms of the country i live in isn't all there is to my life. i can still do so many other things at 24. what the fuck am i rambling about lol moving on ending note what's that? you wanna hear about my japanese men? well they're in shambles. arashi went on hiatus 2 years ago, sexyzone lost marius at the end of 2022 thus became a 4-member group. i was pretty much okay with marius leaving because he seemed like he was thriving and living his best life and i wholly support him! so much!! it's sad that sz won't be 5 anymore but they sent marius off the best way possible so it ended well for both sz and the fans. don't even get me started on king&prince, i still can't forgive how they went on a music show and revealed that ren would be a seiyuu in a doraemon movie and that very same night they dropped a damn nuclear bomb on all of us announcing the 3 of them would exit the group and the agency. look i'm all for them chasing their dreams and living the life they want but it's how the agency handled their departures and it's the fact that they weren't allowed to grow in an agency that should've listened and catered to a group that huge and successful. johnnys fumbled so fucking hard with king&prince and i will never forget their faces during the announcement video and their tears during their last performance which!! was on regular tv!!! and they didn't even get a farewell tour or shit!!!!!! yeah i'm angry. anyway. see that went on for a bit, the lesson here is to not ask me how i feel about kp's change from 5 to 2 members. ever. and because i can't think of any other major event that happened last year--like i said, life was boring--i shall end the recap with food pics!!! enjoy. or not. i hope you get hungry looking at these. because i always do.   it's already august of 2023! long story short, i got a job in jakarta at the start of the year and i gotta say living alone is so liberating. there are some stuff you only learn and experience when you live by yourself and so far i'm not hating it! i can't believe i've been here for like 6 months now time kinda flew by so ridiculously fast but now i'm faced with a decision i gotta make soon whether i want to keep living here or not. of course i do want to stay here for a while but as it stands there are some stuff at home i think i should attend to so i might have to move back home. but we'll see! i get at least another several months to be here so maybe things will change, or my mind will change, i don't know. point is, this period in my life has probably been the happiest i've ever been. even though now i gotta pay my own bills and rent, get my own food, grocery shop with my own money etc but that's all in the Living Alone package and if this is what i gotta go through to get the Ultimate Adulting Experience then so be it. i'm not complaining. it's about time i do shit by myself for myself, i'm about to be a year older real soon after all. what the hell was i on about? じゃまたー Labels: food, friends, hny, personal the weather has been kind of wack lately, huh? climate change is real y'all. as if The Vid wasn't enough of a global phenomenon, 2022 has been much worse and it has only been three months. more people are suffering, the world is yet again flooded with rain and terrible situations, etc. i don't want to get into this further because i don't know much about what's really happening to speak out on it SO. that'll be all on this segment.                  welp. see y'all whenever. |
